Postcards From the Past: The Read House Hotel in Chattanooga, Tennessee

John T. Read opened the popular Read House hotel in 1872 on the site of the former Crutchfield House next to Chattanooga’s Union Depot in the years after the Civil War. The second, and current, Read House opened in the same location in 1926. Many dignitaries, including Winston Churchill, have stayed at the hotel over the years. The building underwent an extensive renovation in 2017-18.
