One Killed After New Jersey River Line Light Rail Train Hits Tree

The operator of a New Jersey River Line Light Rail was killed, and more than a dozen passengers were injured after the train struck a tree on Monday morning in Mansfield Township.

According to a WPVI report, 23 people were injured, and the 19 other passengers on the train were transported by bus.

“I have been briefed on an accident on the [River Line] earlier today in which the light rail struck a tree on the tracks, leading to the death of the train operator and injuring passengers,” New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy said in a tweet. “An investigation is underway. Our prayers are with all affected by this tragic incident.”
