The operator of a New Jersey River Line Light Rail was killed, and more than a dozen passengers were injured after the train struck a tree on Monday morning in Mansfield Township.
According to a WPVI report, 23 people were injured, and the 19 other passengers on the train were transported by bus.
River Line service continues to be suspended in both directions between Trenton and Florence stations due to downed trees across the tracks near Roebling. Substitute bus service is being provided

“I have been briefed on an accident on the [River Line] earlier today in which the light rail struck a tree on the tracks, leading to the death of the train operator and injuring passengers,” New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy said in a tweet. “An investigation is underway. Our prayers are with all affected by this tragic incident.”
