Amtrak says a misaligned switch is to blame for a head-on collision that left two Amtrak employees dead and more than 100 passengers injured, reports indicate.

Two people were killed and 100 injured when an Amtrak train traveling on the wrong track collided with a CSX freight train, published reports indicate.

The federal government is expecting railroads to implement positive train control (PTC) systems by the Congressionally mandated Dec. 31 deadline, Transportation  Secretary Elaine L. Chao said in a letter.
