Marta R. Stewart, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Norfolk Southern Corp. is retiring effective Aug. 1, 2017.

A new train crew management and payroll system currently under development should boost operating efficiency, lower costs and increase productivity, Norfolk Southern says.

The Conrail board of directors recently named Timothy Tierney president and chief operating officer. Tierney succeeds Ronald Batory, who is retiring after nearly 46 years in the railroad industry.
