Teens Struck by CSX Freight Train in Ga.

ATLANTA — One teenager was killed and another was sent to a local hospital after they were struck by a CSX freight train early this morning, Cobb County police said.

Police said the two teens were “sitting on the railroad tracks” near the Stanley Road railroad crossing at about 1 a.m. March 12 when they were hit by the train. The two were “not visible to the train operators” since “area of the track where the incident occurred was curved and dark,” according to a police statement.

The 18-year-old from Kennesaw, Ga., was killed while the 17-year-old from Douglasville, Ga., was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with what authorities called “non-life threatening injuries.”
