Amtrak is suggesting passengers book their Thanksgiving holiday train tickets sooner rather than later to avoid missing out on the best availability and pricing.
The railroad’s busiest days — and the ones most likely to sell out — are the Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the Saturday and Sunday following the holiday.
Amtrak said it is adding additional capacity to its Northeast, Pacific Northwest, California and the Chicago hub. In addition, the railroad is borrowing rolling stock from commuter railroads for service on the Northeast Corridor; trains on Nov. 30 with numbers in the 1054-1099 range will have fewer amenities.
Amtrak saw a record 754,000 travel by train during the Thanksgiving holiday a year ago.
