Two Killed After Amtrak-CSX Train Crash

Two people were killed and more than 100 others injured when an Amtrak train traveling on the wrong track collided with a CSX freight train, published reports indicate.

The collision happened around 2:35 a.m. today near Pine Ridge, S.C. Amtrak train No. 91 was traveling from New York to Miami.

“It appears to me that the CSX train was on the track it was supposed to be on,” The State newspaper quoted Gov. Henry McMaster said. “It appears Amtrak was on the wrong track.”

Authorities are investigating.
