Railfanning.org has recently revamped its history section to include additional information about several historic railroads.
The page includes details about the Northeast Corridor, the Memphis, Clarksville & Louisville Railroad, the Tennessee Central Railroad and Railway, the Atlanta Northern Railway and streetcars in Clarksville, Tennessee. It also highlights the Western & Atlantic Railroad and The Great Locomotive Chase of 1862.
Both the Memphis, Clarksville & Louisville and the Western & Atlantic, for example, include rare information about locomotives that operated on the lines. They also feature interactive timelines highlighting the railroads’ unique histories; the Memphis, Clarksville & Louisville also features information about the Budds Creek disaster of 1869, including a list of passengers involved.
The site will launch an additional page about the history of the Indiana, Alabama & Texas to coincide with a new book from Railfanning.org editor Todd DeFeo.
