Eurostar trains could soon stop at Stratford International if a Member of Parliament has his way, according to a local report.

According to EssexLive, Sir Stephen Timms first floated the idea in the 1980s when he was a councilor. Despite the backing of the MP for East Ham, Eurostar has no plans to add stops at Stratford International.

Eurostar trains arrive at and depart from St Pancras in London, serving Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam. Trains have typically stopped at Ashford or Ebbsfleet but have not done so since March 2020.

According to the Independent, in October 2023, Eurostar’s chief executive said the two stations would reopen “once we can afford it.”
