Lawmaker Confirms State Looking to Fund Southeastern Railway Museum

A Georgia state lawmaker has confirmed that lawmakers are considering funding the Southeastern Railway Museum in Duluth, Georgia, with tax dollars.

In a recent email to supporters, the museum, which has struggled with funding and stability for years, asked supporters to reach out to state Rep. Matt Reeves, R-Duluth, to urge the state allocate tax dollars for the museum. On Friday, Reeves confirmed to Railfanning.org that he is “working on trying to secure this funding.”

The museum, which moved to its current location in 1998, has struggled for years to raise money. In 2000, it was designated as Georgia’s official transportation history museum.
