One person has died after being struck by a train in Christchurch, New Zealand.
According to a release, New Zealand Police were notified at 3:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 23, that a person riding an e-scooter had been struck by the train on Lincoln Road in the Addington area. The person died at the scene.
The location is near the Christchurch train station.
Police said road closures are in place to allow the Serious Crash Unit to examine the scene. Authorities asked motorists to avoid the area.
