The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority will begin the final phase of renovations on the west plaza at Indian Creek Station on Monday, Nov. 23.
As part of MARTA’s Station Rehabilitation Program, MARTA is renovating the plaza to improve safety, accessibility, and pedestrian access.
A portion of the plaza was renovated earlier this year, and this final phase will complete the remainder of the plaza. Temporary pedestrian detours will be required during construction to ensure the work is completed safely and efficiently, while shortening the overall construction schedule to about four months.
Rail and bus service will continue as scheduled.
The west plaza will be closed for safety throughout construction. Customers who park at Indian Creek must use the east entrance near the bus loop to enter the station. ADA parking spaces near the Kiss & Ride area will be temporarily relocated to the east side of the parking lot to provide customers with the shortest accessible path during construction.
The pedestrian bridge to Durham Park Road will remain open. The west faregates will only be accessible from the pedestrian bridge. During construction, the west faregates will not provide access to the parking lot. Portions of the west parking lot may be restricted to help direct customers toward the designated pedestrian detour.
Temporary directional signage and wayfinding will be installed throughout the area. Construction is expected to last approximately four months.
The ongoing Station Rehabilitation Program is a long-term investment to modernize station infrastructure, improve accessibility, and enhance the overall customer experience at all 38 rail stations. Other major improvements made at Indian Creek include new walls, doors, platform finishes, benches, trash receptacles, windscreens, lighting, and deep cleaning throughout.
