ATLANTA — Officials with the city of Atlanta and MARTA planning to build 21 miles of light rail lines as part of a bevy of transportation improvements, according to a new report.
The projects will be funded by a sales tax city of Atlanta voters approved in 2016, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
The expansion includes a four-mile Clifton Corridor light rail line. The line would connect the current Lindbergh station with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Emory University, which the city of Atlanta recently annexed into its jurisdiction, the newspaper reported.
The existing and much maligned Atlanta streetcar would be incorporated into the light rail network.
