Manhattan Transfer

The Pennsylvania Railroad opened Manhattan Transfer as it opened the New York Tunnel Extension on November 27, 1910, on what is today the Northeast Corridor. The station consisted of two 1,100-foot-long platforms, one on each side of the Pennsylvania Railroad tracks. The Hudson & Manhattan Railroad also served the station. Manhattan Transfer operated until 1937, even though electric locomotives pulled most Pennsylvania Railroad trains through the area by about 1933.
