Freight Train Backs Over Conductor

MADISONVILLE, Ky. – A 52-year-old CSX freight train conductor died early Monday morning when a freight train backed over him.

The Hopkins County coroner pronounced conductor Jerry W. Duncan dead at the scene. According to a news release by the Kentucky State Police, the freight train was traveling from Evansville, Ind., to Nashville, Tenn., when it stopped at the Atkinson Railroad Yard in Madisonville, Ky., to drop off seven cars.

The train backed over Duncan at 3:05 a.m., according to the release. Kentucky State Police and CSX Railroad Police are investigating the incident.
