Friday Afternoon Railfanning in Marietta, Ga.

MARIETTA, Ga. — It is no secret Railfanning.org enjoys photographing trains in Marietta. That is because the city meets several of the criteria required for safe railfanning.

The biggest reason Marietta makes for a great train-watching destination is because there are ample places to stand and watch trains that are both within the public right-of-way and a safe distance from the tracks. That is in addition to the dozens of freight trains that traverse CSX’s Western & Atlantic subdivision on a daily basis.

The above pictures were taken on Aug. 7, 2015. Stay tuned for round two.
