One person was killed after a truck and a train collided in Marton, New Zealand, police said.
The crash, which occurred near Saunders Road, was reported around 3:30 p.m. local time. A person traveling in the truck was killed in the collision, but a police news release did not provide additional information about the person killed.
“Cordons are in place at the entrance to Saunders Road while a scene examination takes place,” according to a news release.
The train was traveling south at the time of the wreck, Stuff reported. According to the report, the crossing had stop signs, but no bells or gates.
The Transport Accident Investigation Commission has been alerted, and an investigation into the circumstances of the crash is underway, police said.
