First of Three New Portal North Bridge Arches Delivered

KEARNY, New Jersey – Following a 30-hour journey down the Hudson River, the first of three massive arches to support the new Portal North Bridge arrived at the construction site, bringing the project a giant leap closer to completion. Amtrak Names Executive Vice President of Strategy and Planning

WASHINGTON – Amtrak has appointed Jennifer Mitchell as executive vice president of strategy and planning. Mitchell will start her role at Amtrak on Dec.2, succeeding Dennis Newman, who is retiring. In this role, she will be responsible for setting Amtrak’s long-term strategic vision and managing the planning, infrastructure access, state partner, network development, and host railroad functions. Mitchell most recently served as deputy administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration and previously as director of the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation. SCDOT to Hold Richland County Public Information Meeting

The South Carolina Department of Transportation and the city of Columbia, South Carolina; the Federal Highway Administration and the Federal Railroad Administration, will host an in-person public meeting next month about the Assembly Street railroad separation project to reduce traffic congestion caused by train crossings. NJ Transit Adding Additional Service as Thanksgiving Arrives

NEWARK, New Jersey — NJ Transit is adding additional service this Thanksgiving weekend to help relieve travel stress as the Garden State starts the holiday season. The Wednesday before Thanksgiving has historically been the busiest day of the year at Newark Airport’s rail station, with ridership levels about twice that of a typical weekday.
