The U.K.’s Rail Accident Investigation Branch is calling for new level-crossing safeguards after an 11-year-old was struck and killed by a passenger train at Bourneview footpath crossing near Kenley, south London, in January.

An Avanti West Coast train derailed near Shap, Cumbria, at about 6:15 a.m. local time on Nov. 3, with officials reporting no serious injuries.

A 32-year-old man will appear at court this morning charged in connection with a major incident on a train in Cambridgeshire on the evening of Saturday, Nov. 1.
