Railfanning.org Editor Kicks Off Book Tour for History of Western & Atlantic Railroad

ROME, Ga. — Railfanning.org Editor Todd DeFeo kicked off a multi-city book tour today at an independent bookstore in Downtown Rome.

In early July, Arcadia Publishing published his book on the Western & Atlantic Railroad. Dogwood Books on Broad Street hosted Saturday’s event.

“When my publisher told me about a book signing in Rome, my first thought was that the Western & Atlantic didn’t pass through Rome,” DeFeo said. “But, of course, the city is connected to the Western & Atlantic thanks to the Rome Railroad.”

The book ranked No. 1 on Amazon.com’s Railroad Pictorials category.

“It was great to meet fans of this historic railroad and one that remains a vital link in the nation’s transportation network,” DeFeo said. “The story of the railroad is incredible, but many people just focus on brief moments of its history. I hope this book preserves the legacy of this railroad for future generations.”

DeFeo’s second book, focusing on the Memphis, Clarksville & Louisville Railroad, is set to publish Oct. 14.
