The Thundering Freight of Box Elder

Pulling out of Box Elder, South Dakota, the road paralleled the Rapid City, Pierre & Eastern tracks. It just so happens the morning freight was thundering past! So, I grabbed my trusty camera and rolled down the window. The morning air was crisp as I leaned out precariously. The shutter snapped. The whistle blew. It was another day of chasing freights in Box Elder.

FORT WORTH, Texas — BNSF Railway Company has been honored by TRANSCAER (National Transportation Community Awareness and Emergency Response) for its commitment to helping communities prepare for and respond to possible hazardous materials transportation incidents. BNSF was one of eight companies to receive TRANSCAER’s 2009 National Achievement Award for supporting the TRANSCAER initiative and extending beyond the geographic boundaries of any one region. Canadian Pacific Announces 2009 Holiday Train Campaign

MINNEAPOLIS — Canadian Pacific’s brightly decorated Holiday Train returns to the rails in late November, raising food, money and awareness for food banks across North America. Last year, the Holiday Train helped raise more than $500,000 and 250,000 lbs of food and there is greater need this year. “Canadian Pacific is proud to support communities where we operate, raising more than $4 million in funds and two million pounds of food in the Holiday Train’s first decade,” said CP President and CEO Fred Green. “Each year, the Holiday Train’s message gets stronger and the impact on our employees and in
